ARI Glasses (1) [+How-To]

Description

8D I made my own ARI glasses! This model doesn't have lights on it because they're just to wear like sunglasses. :P Here's how I made it:

1) Buy thick-rimmed sunglasses from any department/general store or sunglasses shop (i.e. Sunglass Huts in malls). ((I got mine for $4 at Dollar General. :P But you may want more expensive ones. To exactly fit Jayden's model from Heavy Rain, purchase glasses without the rim around the bottom of the lens. These are harder to find, so I settled for normal rims. Normally, these glasses would be in the men's or sports model sections of sunglasses shops.))

2) Use thick acryllic paints for the designs. ARI logo goes on the right, and the blue circles go on the left. With acryllic paints, you can wash the decals off with water and soap easily and start over if you mess up or want to improve. Some designs use Sharpie permanant markers. These may be harder to remove and may rub off gradually. I suggest paints. ((I used Folk Art 662 Metallic Silver [by Plaid] for the ARI logo and Folk Art 524 Calypso Sky [by Plaid] for the circles. They come in small, 2-ounce bottles. WalMart department stores also sell paints of a similar quality.))

3) Let dry and try em on! :dummy: If you're a girl or guy with hair that would cover the symbols you want to be seen, there are easy fixes to this issue. :P ((My hair is very short, but I still found a way to uncover the logos. (: )) If you're comfortable with this, you can tie your hair up in a bun or ponytail. You can also tuck it behind you ears and/or use barettes or bobby pins to uncover the ARI design[s]. If you use barettes/pins, it may look best if you chose a side to uncover. I chose to show the silver ARI logo instead of the blue circles. Too many pins would look kind of ridiculous. xD

It's pretty easy. Cheap, too, the way I do it. There are many methods to putting lights on your glasses, which range from the complex and pricey to the simple and cheap. (: I will either link to some of them or explain them here soon.

:happybounce: These glasses are great for cosplays or just walking around town, displaying your geekdom! :lmao: Have fun. ;P

Oh, yeah, if you have prescription eyeglasses like I do, then you won't be able to wear them with your ARI. :I Sorry! :P Depending on the type of sunglasses you use for the ARI, it may not be so bad, as some sunglasses magnify surroundings. Also, if your glasses are as dark as mine, it helps a lot on sunny days, but I wouldn't recommend wearing them indoors or at night. You'll trip and fall!

Tips: Don't get thin-rimmed glasses. You won't have anywhere to put the decals!
Avoid lenses with shine/gloss added to them. These devalue the look of your ARI and make it less authentic.
Use only black lenses and black frames for the ARI. If you can't find black, be preparedto spray paint or oder online. ;P
Glasses like these are typically easy to find. Your sporty uncle may have some lying in a shed somewhere. The convenience store on the corner may have some cheap wide-rimmed glasses like these. Look everywhere and don't give up. Plus, there's always the Internet. :P
